ThemeOtherAlthough quite colorful there is a more sinister presence depicted here. As in the feeling I got when I went to visit a distant relative. Nonetheless I was instructed to refer to this lady as Aunt Mary. The amazing thing is that I went there after I had been to school, in the local village. I was about 9 years of age. I was sent upstairs to her room. I entered with trepidation for it was the first time I ever was in a room with someone who had died. Though I felt it to be very cold – I was not afraid.

Shamans Secret
ThemeOtherThis work was made as part of the series ''Acts of Attrition’ I made these following my year spent in Catalonia in Spain where I completed my M.F.A. Whilst there I undertook research and visited many interesting places including the museum of Girona which has a fabulous collection of medieval artifacts and where the Beatus manus were made. These I find fascinating for I love how they depicted their vision of the Cosmos with different ''temporal'' and ''moral'' zones.
In my piece I am exploring the idea that each one of us has a universe within ourselves. This is even the case for the Shaman. The onlooker hopes to learn some secret if he can decipher the signs of the Shaman.

Interstice Familia
ThemeOtherThis work started out as a drawing that was made as part of a series based on the metaphor of the chessboard Vis a Vis ''the games people play. The idea of positive and negative personal space is also explored here. The initial drawing was made using charcoal and soft pastel - it was then scanned in to the computer and I was able to manipulate the forms to a resolution that was more satisfactory. I often think of this piece of being about the dynamics that go into making up the phenomenon of ''family''.

ThemeOtherPart of the Acts of Attrition series this work started out in trace monotype as with the other works. There is no doubt that we to have to care for the land or the planet that we live in and this work represents this idea. Because we receive our nourishment from it be that the fruits of the earth or the other people within. If we cannot adopt sensitivity to our environment then we will be sorry.
